Gearing Decisions

decisionAs I acquire more and more 10 man loot and slowly win 25 man upgrades I am beginning to see a problem developing.  In TBC it was quite easy to see which items were upgrades and which weren’t.  Many classes had an ideal PVE spec and valued certain skill points or attributes more than others.

Wrath of the Lich King has muddied up the waters for a bit with both 10 and 25 man progression and with expanded skills and abilities that give players real options in terms of gearing.  Stacking tons of one stat at the expense of all others just doesn’t play out as well anymore.

Additionally with so much loot entering the system (full clear of Naxx heroic is 60 items not counting trash drops) I find myself having to make real choices amongst various items and unable to identify a “best in slot” approach.

Even on the Elitist Jerks forums players are having difficulty assigning weights to stat points except under very specific circumstances.  Some players will see this as a good thing but to others I can imagine it is very frustrating.  Not wanting to spend the large amount of gold (1000+ for some) on enchants or several hundred gold in gems on an item that might simply be replaced the next raid reset is certainly understandable.
